The Parents and Family Fund is an annual giving program designed especially for the parents and families of current and former students. Each year, this initiative helps to fund improvements in the quality of student life on the RU campus. Your contribution will be distributed for maximum impact in support of the following initiatives:

New Student Programs
The most important connection a new student can make at Radford University is to find a mentor or significant person with whom they bond and become part of the community. Through an intentional matching of students’ academic interests or co-curricular activities, we place students with a university faculty or staff member as part of a mentoring program. This experience might include working on research with a professor, continuing with a club or organization from high school, or it could include working with visual and performing arts or assisting with a sports team. The final product will be the development of a significant relationship within the RU community that incorporates these students into the campus environment.

Your contribution allows us to set up these unique opportunities to guide student success.

Student Activities
The Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center
The student center should be a comfortable and inviting place where students spend most of their leisure time when they are not in the classroom. This is the very atmosphere we have created in the Bonnie Hurlburt Student Center, referred to as “The Bonnie.” This 45,000 square foot complex includes an information center, student lounges, a food court with three restaurants, meeting rooms, a 250-seat auditorium, student organization offices, a student leader resources room and more. Your contribution will be used to enhance student programming that ensures the student-run committees and clubs that use The Bonnie have adequate budget allocations to provide hundreds of programs, services, events and activities that occur annually.

University Priorities
The University Priorities Fund is used at the President’s discretion for student activities and events, extra learning opportunities, campus safety initiatives and a variety of projects that benefit students.

RU Athletics
Gifts to the Parents and Family Fund will assist the new Radford University Athletic Foundation in providing additional resources to the Highlanders Division I intercollegiate program. Contributions will help fund scholarships and program support for all 19 Varsity teams and assist our student-athletes in the classroom and in competition.

Radford University takes great pride in the academic success of our student-athletes and that remains a top priority. In addition, Radford is committed to increasing the competitiveness of Highlander Athletics so that we may compete on a regional and national level, thus increasing the visibility of the University.

The athletic program at Radford is a vital part of the overall University experience for the campus community. A strong and visible athletic program promotes spirit and pride among all students, faculty and staff and builds alumni pride.

Gifts from the Parents and Family Fund will assist the University in bolstering a proud athletic program at Radford.

Doubling the Impact of Your Gift
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs that will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Depending on your employer’s program, your contribution to the Parents and Family Fund may be doubled or possibly tripled.
