The Friends of Selu was established in 1989 to assist RU in realizing the potential of its Selu Conservancy. Since then the Conservancy has added a variety of resources and opportunities available to RU and the immediate community. Thousands of students have used the 380-acre Conservancy for multidisciplinary field work, while area organizations have taken advantage of the Conservancy’s natural beauty and peace for learning, planning, and problem-solving.

Friends’ support and encouragement has created a place that, in the words of former RU President Douglas Covington, "has captured the imagination of everyone who has experienced it." The original vision is becoming a reality.

Out of concern that funding always be available to preserve the vision that has become Selu, private support is necessary.  The Selu Conservancy Endowment provides funds for capital improvements and other projects.
