The Friends of Selu was established in 1989 to assist RU in realizing the potential of its Selu Conservancy. Since then the Conservancy has added a variety of resources and opportunities available to RU and the immediate community. Thousands of students have used the 380-acre Conservancy for multidisciplinary field work, while area organizations have taken advantage of the Conservancy’s natural beauty and peace for learning, planning, and problem-solving.
Friends’ support and encouragement has created a place that, in the words of RU President Douglas Covington, "has captured the imagination of everyone who has experienced it." The original vision is becoming a reality.
Out of concern that funding always be available to preserve the vision that has become Selu, membership levels and an endowment have been established to address the future needs of the Conservancy.
Membership Levels:
Selu Society - $5,000 and above
Dogwood Society - $1,000 to $4,999
Redbud Society - $500 to $999
Trillium Society - $250 to $499
Cliff Green Society - $100 to $249
Blue Violet Society - $25 to $99
The Selu Conservancy Endowment provides funds for capital improvements, a Distinguished Lecturer Program in Environment Arts and Sciences, and other projects. Contact Dave Moore at the RU Foundation to find out how you can contribute to Selu Conservancy.
